Mother’s Day is celebrated in the US every second Sunday of May. The driving force behind Mother’s Day was Anna Jarvis, who organized observances in Grafton, W.Va., and Philadelphia on May 10, 1908. As the annual celebration became popular around the country, Jarvis asked members of Congress to set aside a day to honor mothers. She finally succeeded in 1914, when Congress designated the second Sunday of May as Mother’s Day.
Here’s a few list to make your Mom feel special this Mother’s Day.
A Letter or a Poem
Whether you live near or far from your Mom, or even if you talk to her often, try to write a short list of some of the things your mother did that you will always remember and appreciate. Then, do a presentation for your Mom and be sure to explain why each of these things made a difference in your life. Don’t forget to mention the funny things she did, make her laugh. A letter of appreciation for all her hard work, love and kindness will be much more appreciated than any gift. Of course it will even be better if your letter is accompanied by a gift.
Dinner
Take Mom out for a dinner, or cook her a dinner if you can, at the very least send her a dinner. Give her a time off from all the mess of cooking. It’s her day, she shouldn’t be cooking.
Time
Spend time with your Mom this mother’s day, help her out on her projects or just help her do some of her daily chores. Or just be with her for a nice talk and companionship, remembering the good things she did for you that change your life for the better.
Your Mom is Special
Remembering your Mom is not something you should only be doing on Mother’s day or special occasions. You should always make an effort to constantly remind her that she is special and that you appreciate all the things she did for you.
